My Apologies

Sorry for not posting much over the past few days. I just haven't been eating anything too exciting!

But this morning, I made this recipe from Recipezaar for Whole Wheat Cornmeal Molasses Banana Bread. That's a mouthful, hm?

It wasn't great. I was dissapointed because it barely rose at all, and I could barely taste the bananas. Not every recipe can be great, I guess. I also had a bowl of yogurt with strawberries and Kashi Honey Sunshine.

Then for lunch, I made a recipe from Greek Vegetarian Cookery called chickpea patties. They had potato in them too, and were really yummy!

I also made homemade hummus using my own recipe, which I'll post later if anyone is interested.
I really wished that I had some homemade pita to dip in the hummus to make it a totally Greek meal, but all I had was a sandwich thin. I also had plain yogurt, then an apple with PB.

Then we did a little shopping. We went to a Borders bookstore that's about to go out of business and they were having big sales to clear out the store. One of the few veg. cookbooks left was Vegan With a Vengeance, and I got it for half price. Heck yes!

We went to Target and I found these bars that I've never seen before. I think they're Canadian.

They were yummy, but tasted more like orange than apple to me. I could definitely taste the green tea though, and plus it has dark chocolate and good nutrition.

It's hard to believe that 2008 is nearly over, this year has gone by so fast! For New Years Eve tonight, I'm just staying home with my family. Our tradition is to order out for Chinese, then do a big jigsaw puzzle while we wait for the near year to come. What are you all doing for NYE?

I'm a bit nervous for Chinese, I hate fried foods. I'm trying to tell myself that just one night isn't going to make me fat, but ED is sort of strong now. I'd like to go into the New Year not worrying about food but I don't know if it will happen. I do hope that it happens for all of you girls though, each and every one of you deserves it!

Chinese food and a puzzle? I can't think of a better or more symbolic way to start 2009 (ie. the most awesome year of freedom, recovery, endurance and prevailing ever!) than piecing together a puzzle (like the puzzle that is life!) and doing something momentous that will KICK ED'S BUTT like ordering out XD OK I'm getting a bit over-the-top philosophical but you know what I mean ;-) Your message on my blog just now meant the world, I could only ever have made such progress with the relentless support of you guys and it means everything <3 You, my dear, are doing so well and just hang in there!

Ohh how funny - I made scones this afternoon from recipezaar and they were rough.. I swear you could really taste the flour or baking powder or something.. rather disappointing! I had visions of me, a scone, a roaring fire and a cup of tea.. shame!

Have a blast tonight! It's fine about not posting for a little bit, you deserve to not have to stress about posting several times a day. Try and enjoy the Chinese food. I still kind of fear Chinese food, but you know what?! It is not gonna hurt us/do ANYTHING whatsoever. Well, it is going to nourish us and provide us with energy and a YUMMY dinner :D Great, now I want Chinese! Haha, have a great time with the fam! :D

Oh, I've seen those on Canadian shelves, but haven't tried them yet.

And I'm playing on staying home with the family too. Past few years I was away, so I think this time around it will be nice.

Hey, Kiki! I don't think I've met you yet... my name's Dommi; I started my own blog just a little while ago. You're just a liiittle younger than me, but we have a lot in common :]

I have to tell you, reading about your NYE traditions made me giggle a little :)) Chinese food and jigsaw puzzles seem so unconvential, but hey, I've always thought conventional was overrated anyhow!! I hope you were able to enjoy the Chinese food... don't let ed get the best of you, girl; you are so much stronger than him! It may be oily and fried, but what's important is that you were able to eat what everyone else what eating in a social environment and spend some quality time with your family... that's what recovery is all about.

That bread sounds just delicious... I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you :[ You might want to play around with a few ingredients and try again?

Well, hope your NYE was amaazing, and it's nice to meet you!
