ED Free Day

Today has been a really great day for me, because ED has been a no show! This is really rare, usually I'm either body bashing or obsessing over calories. But for today, I am feeling normal. I had an eye doctors appointment, so my mom picked me up from school before lunch. After my appointment, she took me out to lunch at a restaurant called the Lebanese Taverna. Normally I would have freaked out because I hate eating anything that I didn't cook and that I don't know the calories of. But I looked around, and everyone else in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying themselves and the food, so I figured that I should too! None of them were thinking that they world was going to end if they went over their calories.

If "normal" people can go out to eat and order what they want, why can't we (meaning people recovering from EDs)? We deserve to enjoy ourselves just like normal people. The one thing we don't deserve is our disorders. I made a bad decision that ultimately led to the development of my ED, I don't really want to go into it, but I don't need to punish myself for it by restricting or depriving myself of enjoying food.

Okay, now that's enough of my little schpeel. I'll start with my breakfast, which is usually kind of big.

I had an egg and a golden delicious apple

Then a bowl of whole milk plain yogurt with homemade gingerbread granola
And lastly, I had a bowl of pumpkin oats! This is my favorite, just canned pumpkin, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
For lunch, I ordered the "Mediterranean Platter". It consisted of: a stuffed grape leave, small spinach pie pocket, Fattoush (pepper and cucumber salad with toasted pita and pom. dressing. On the bottom left), and shakshouky (eggplant, tomato, garlic, scalliam and pom. all pureed up- so good!! On the top right), and hummus. I also dipped a small, fresh baked pita in the hummus, but didn't take a picture of it.
I gave awaw about half the hummus to my mom, it was so much! I highly recommend Lebanese food to everyone. It's vegan friendly and really really healthy! I have therapy and a cello lesson tonight, so I'll try my hardest to find time to post the rest of my day.

Oooh and your Pumpkin Pie porridge looks awesome. I wish I could find canned pumpkin over here in Britain - they never have it anywhere :-( So it's plain old banana porridge for me haha!
